That extra volume changes the smoking experience in a specific way: longer cigars go through more distinct flavor phases as the blend heats up and the burn line moves through different sections of filler tobacco, so a long-format smoke often tastes noticeably different in the first third than the last.
That makes this format a poor choice for a quick break but a strong one for anything where the cigar is meant to anchor the whole occasion rather than fit around it.
