A punch does something a guillotine cannot: it leaves the cap on. Instead of slicing the top off the cigar, it bores a clean circular plug out of the center, so the wrapper stays anchored and there is nothing for it to unravel from. If you have ever had a cigar come apart in your hand halfway through, this is the fix.
The Maxius Bullet is the pocket version of that idea. Stainless steel cutting edge, bullet-shaped body small enough to live on a keyring or in a coin pocket, and no moving parts to fail. The tradeoff is a tighter draw than a straight cut gives you, which some smokers prefer and others do not. At this price it is worth owning one to find out which you are. Available in silver, black, or gold.
