Joya de Nicaragua is the oldest cigar brand in Nicaragua, and Silver is its modern side. The Joya de Nicaragua Silver Corona (5 1/2 x 42) was Cigar Aficionado's No. 21 Cigar of 2019, rated 92.
It is box-pressed, with a dark Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Mexican binder and Nicaraguan filler, made in Nicaragua. The slim corona ring puts the wrapper forward, so the pepper and dark chocolate come through sharply, with roasted coffee and a touch of sweetness behind. Medium-full. About 55 minutes, a Power Hour smoke on the Burn Clock.
A sharp afternoon cigar, or one for the drive to a weekend gathering. A black coffee or a rye on the rocks. Boxes of 20. Explore more Habano cigars and medium-full cigars.
