Romeo y Julieta is one of the oldest and most recognized cigar names in the world, tracing its roots to Cuba in 1875 before the non-Cuban version was built under Altadis U.S.A. The brand became a global icon in part through Winston Churchill's public devotion to it, and the name still carries that old-world prestige today.
The Reserva Real and 1875 lines lean into smooth, medium-bodied profiles built for approachability, while the Vintage and Añejo series age longer for added depth. Production spans the Dominican Republic and Honduras depending on the line, giving the brand more range than its classic reputation might suggest.
Romeo y Julieta cigars work well for smokers who want a dependable, widely respected name for everyday smoking or for sharing with someone new to cigars. Browse our in-stock Romeo y Julieta selection for fast shipping on one of the industry's most storied brands.

Romeo y Julieta was founded in Cuba in 1875 by Inocencio Alvarez and Manin Garcia, who named it after Shakespeare's tragedy. The brand changed hands in 1903 when Pepin Rodriguez Fernandez bought it and turned a regional cigar into an international name, at one point producing over 20,000 custom, personalized bands for wealthy clients who wanted their own private label.
Its most famous convert was Winston Churchill. When he visited the factory in 1946, his favorite size, a 7 by 47 parejo, was renamed the Churchill in his honor. Nearly every cigar brand on the market makes a Churchill size today, and this is where the name actually comes from.
The Cuban revolution split the brand in two, one made in Cuba for Habanos S.A., the other produced outside Cuba, today mostly in the Dominican Republic. If the Churchill story caught your attention, our Churchill Cigars collection is built entirely around the size that carries his name.
