Press both side release buttons and the spring-loaded head snaps open to reveal a 64 ring gauge bowl. Seat the cap and press closed. The inverted stainless blade applies inward pressure during the cut, preventing the cap from expanding and splitting, which is the failure mode that ruins a cigar before you light it. Notches in the blade trench let the closed cutter work as a cigar rest.
